Insulation is an essential part of a vessel’s infrastructure varying from fireproofing bulkheads, insulating overheads and partitions, soundproofing generator panels, and re-insulating the pipe insulation on the chilled water lines & chiller plants. FMS leads the industry in specialized HVAC pipe insulation / lagging on the chilled water lines, fan coil units or air handlers, chillers, hot water lines, etc. To many times failing pipe insulation goes unnoticed since many of the lines run out of sight in walls, overheads, and floors. Repeatedly we have seen neglected insulation fail causing condensation to leak throughout the vessel, which results in water damage to finished wood, overheads, carpets, etc, mold growth, leaking on to electrical components causing thousands in damages. Improperly insulated chilled chilled water lines allows condensation to drip throughout a yacht or vessel and pool in areas unnoticed until it’s too late and the damage is done. We all know yachts & boats are breeding ground for potentially toxic and hazardous mold growth due cool temperatures & dark enclosed areas such as tech spaces, behind cabinets, among other storage areas. Many companies the claim to specialize in mold remediation on yachts are simply temporarily treating a system instead of getting to the root cause which is failing/leaking pipe insulation that allows the condensation to drip creating a perfect environment for mold, respiratory issues, infections, etc.

Thermal pipe insulation is an essential part of a boat or yachts insulation material. We wrap HVAC, chilled water lines, compressors, fan coil units, and chiller plants in marine grade armaflex thermal insulation to prevent condensation and temperature loss. Poorly insulated pipes can cause condensation to drip throughout a yacht or vessel onto expensive electrical equipment, permanently damaging them or potentially causing a fire. Leaky pipes can cause structural damage, rust, rotten wood, and toxic black mold build up.
Sound/Vibration damping plays a vital role within a superyachts infrastructure. Without the appropriate material the yacht would simply become a noisy, vibrating chunk of metal. We provide and install all materials to quiet down your vessel from generators, engines, stabilizer, kitchens, etc. Some of the materials we use is tuff mass, dampening tile, promosound, and rock wool. Fireproofing is an essential part of a boats infrastructure by preventing fire from spreading through rooms and decks. Mineral wool fiber insulations are made from basalt rock and slag. This combination results in a non-combustible product with a melting point of approximately 2150º F (1177ºC), which gives it excellent fire endurance properties. Some of the other type of fire retardant insulation we use is firemaster and promaguard. For stopping the transfer of heat between decks and rooms we use thermal insulation such as microlite and duct board. All materials used are USCG/Lloyds approved. Perforated/solid aluminum is a thin, lightweight acoustic absorption panel for use in marine, industrial, and architectural applications. The white, powder-coated finish is attractive, making it an excellent choice for areas where visual aesthetics are important. Perforated aluminum sheet with a non-woven backing. Its acoustic absorption properties are a result of increased flow resistance across the non-woven backing. The acoustic absorption properties improve as a function of the increased cavity between the sheet and the surface on which it is installed. Solid or perforated aluminum sheets can be used in almost any space that requires improved acoustic properties and a clean, durable finish. It is widely used in yachts as an engine room finish, where noise control is critical, and the clean white matches the high-end aesthetic.
